Casting News: Owen Wilson Set to Join 'Loki' TV Series

Thor's little brother, Loki, is getting his own spinoff TV series, with Tom Hiddleston set to return as the god of mischief. Loki is known to deliver some dry one-liners, but now he will have some help in the comic relief area, with Owen Wilson (Wedding Crashers) signing on for the superhero series, reports

In true Marvel fashion, Wilson's role has yet to be announced, but he tends to play funny, so we're guessing we can count on that. The question that's really up in the air, is: will his character be human or immortal? We're leaning toward the former, but with Marvel, anything is possible.

In regards to the storyline, there's been talk of Loki time-traveling through different eras (hey, that's the Doctor's thing). In the below still, we see him in circa 1975:

Prior to the first look photo, Hiddleston Tweeted out an update of what we'll get "more" of:

In addition to Hiddleston, and now Wilson, we can also look for Sophia Di Martino (Silent Witness). Di Martino's role has yet to be announced. At least they're consistent.

According to Marvel head honcho Kevin Feige, the Loki TV series will have some sort of overlap with 2021's Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. He didn't confirm how or what that means, but more so that the two are "connected." And, as you know, Anglo favorite Benedict Cumberbatch plays Dr. Stephen Strange.

It doesn't seem like Hiddleston and Cumberbatch will necessarily be on-screen together, but with the Loki series involving time-traveling, his actions may have an impact on Strange's world.

Michael Waldron (Rick and Morty) is writing the series, with Kate Herron (Sex Education) set to direct.

You can look for the forthcoming series Loki on Disney+ in 2021.

Do you think Owen Wilson will mesh well with the Marvel Universe?
