Olivia Colman and Tosin Cole are to star in Girl from the North Country, a film adaptation of the hit Broadway show.
The Hollywood Reporter brings word that Woody Harrelson and Chlöe Bailey will also star in the movie musical featuring the songs of Bob Dylan. The big-screen adaptation will be written and directed by Conor McPherson, who also wrote the book for the original stage show.
Colman and Harrelson will play a couple struggling to hold onto their Minnesota guesthouse during the depths of the Great Depression. Colman's character has dementia and the bank is threatening them with foreclosure. Their situation changes, however, when their adopted daughter played by Bailey forms a relationship with an escaped convict.
The latter will be played by Cole, who is known for his roles in Doctor Who and AMC's 61st Street. He also appeared in last year's acclaimed autobiographical film Till.
Girl from the North Country, which premiered in 2017, features an array of popular Bob Dylan songs including "Make You Feel My Love," "Like a Rolling Stone," and "Forever Young." For a taste of Colman's singing voice, check out her cover of "Glory Box," a song by British trip-hop band Portishead. She recorded it for a charity compilation album released in aid of the BBC's Children in Need appeal.
