Casting News: Naomie Harris Joins Jude Law in Mystery Thriller 'The Third Day'

Naomie Harris has joined Jude Law in new limited series The Third Day – in what sounds like a pivotal role.

It's another coup for the super-intriguing six-part thriller because Harris, Oscar-nominated for her performance in 2017's Moonlight, hasn't signed up for a TV role since 2010.

In the first half of the six-part series, subtitled "Summer," the story will follow Law's character Sam, a man who finds himself on a strange island off the British coast where locals are determined to preserve their unique traditions, whatever the cost.

Harris will appear in the second half, "Winter," as Helen, a woman who arrives on the island, questions these traditions, and ultimately brings about a battle for the island's future way of life.

Law joined the limited series, a joint production between HBO and U.K. network Sky, earlier this summer. Katherine Waterston (the Fantastic Beasts franchise), Paddy Considine (Peaky Blinders), and two-time Oscar nominee Emily Watson (War Horse, Chernobyl) have all since signed up as well.

Marc Munden (National Treasure, Utopia) is directing the three "Summer" episodes, Variety reports, while Philippa Lowthorpe (The Crown) is directing the three "Winter" episodes. The series has been written by Dennis Kelly, who previously wrote British thriller series Utopia and co-wrote acclaimed British sitcom Pulling with Sharon Horgan.

The Third Day is due to debut at some point in 2020. In the meantime, you can catch Naomie Harris in action thriller Black and Blue, which opens in theaters October 25, and new Bond movie No Time to Die, due April 2020, in which she reprises her role as Eve Moneypenny.
