Michael Sheen and
Game of Thrones actress Nathalie Emmanuel have signed up to star in the festive time-traveling movie Last Train to Christmas.
According to a press release, Sheen will play Tony Towers, a successful 1980s nightclub manager who is engaged to a "much younger woman" named Sue (Emmanuel). When he boards a train to Nottingham for a family Christmas reunion in 1985, he finds that by changing carriages, he can jump forward in time to 1995, where his clubs have failed and his life is falling apart.
"The actions he takes in one carriage directly affect his life in the next," the release teases. "The question is, can Tony change his life – and the lives of the people he loves – for the better, or will he just make things worse?"
The movie has been commissioned by U.K. network Sky, which shared a first-look image of Sheen and Emmanuel in their 1980s finery – check it out above. On Twitter, several fans have suggested that there might be a physical resemblance between Sheen's character and late British nightclub owner Peter Stringfellow, who was especially successful in the 1980s. This is pure speculation, though.
Last Train to Christmas will premiere in the U.K. on Sky Cinema this holiday season. There's no word yet on a U.S. release, but given Sheen and Emmanuel's high profile, it will surely be picked up shortly.
