Luke Evans has joined the cast of Disney's upcoming Pinocchio movie.

The Welsh actor will play The Coachman in the live-action remake directed by Robert Zemeckis, Deadline reports.

In Disney's classic animated movie Pinocchio, The Coachman appears as the cruel owner of Treasure Island; he's very much a villainous figure who turns naughty boys into donkeys and sells them.

Evans joins Tom Hanks, who has been cast as kind woodcarver Geppetto in what will be a reunion with his Forrest Gump and Cast Away director Zemeckis. The movie will premiere not in theaters, but on the Disney+ streaming service. Further casting has yet to be announced.

Evans previously appeared as Gaston in Disney's live-action Beauty and the Beast movie, which grossed a massive $1.264 billion in 2017. He's currently riding high on the success of The Pembrokeshire Murders, a true-crime miniseries set in his native Wales. According to Deadline, it gave U.K. network ITV its best new drama launch in five years when it debuted earlier this month.

The three-parter based on the story of Welsh serial killer John Cooper is due to premiere in the U.S. on BritBox on February 2. Check out the trailer below.
