We saw Kiefer Sutherland in the action series 24 (2001-2010) and the 2014 spinoff miniseries 24: Live Another Day. In 2016, he stepped into the title role of the political drama Designated Survivor. He's now joining the spy game, with an espionage series in the works over at Paramount+, reports ComingSoon.net.

The series is currently untitled, but we can look for him as a private espionage agent named John Weir. The eight-part series is described as Weir in "the midst of a battle over the preservation of democracy in a world at odds with misinformation, behavioral manipulation, the surveillance state, and the interests that control these extraordinary powers."

Sutherland will also act as executive producer with John Requa and Glenn Ficarra, co-writers of I Love You Phillip Morris.

He talks about working with the two, saying in a statement, "I’ve been an admirer of John Requa and Glenn Ficarra’s unique body of work for some time, and I’m thrilled to be working on this exciting new project with them and Paramount+."

Sutherland also gives a shout out to 24 producer David Nevins, saying “Reuniting with David Nevins makes it all the more special. I can’t wait to see you all with this show in 2022.”

In addition to the 24 franchise and Designated Survivor, we saw Sutherland in the 2020 TV adaptation of The Fugitive:

Sutherland seems to take on a lot of roles that call for cardio.
