Casting News: Kate Beckinsale to Star in Female-Led Action-Comedy 'Jolt'
Kate Beckinsale is known for her action roles in the Underworld franchise, and more recently she's shown off her comedy chops in acclaimed period movie Love and Friendship. Now she's set to combine the two in Jolt, an action-comedy film that's being likened to feminist classic Thelma & Louise.
According to Deadline, Beckinsale has signed up to star as Lindy, a "badass female bouncer" who has anger management problems which she controls with shock waves from her electrode-lined vest.
The plot follows her character as she embarks on a "revenge-fueled rampage" following the murder of the man she's fallen for. To be honest, with Beckinsale as lead, Jolt sounds as though it could be a super-entertaining romp.

Tanya Wexler (Hysteria) is directing from a script by Scott Wascha (Made in Berlin), and shooting is due to take place in the U.K. and Bulgaria this summer.
“Jolt is a kick-ass and painfully funny script,” Wexler said. “When I saw that Kate Beckinsale was attached to play the lead, I jumped at the opportunity to make the movie. This is the movie for right now — a revenge-action film for every woman (and man) who wants to turn their inner ‘Thelma & Louise’ up to 11.”
Beckinsale is currently starring in eight-part TV series The Widow, which debuted on Amazon Prime in March. She plays a woman who's just been told her husband died in a plane crash, but who doesn’t actually believe he's dead.
She'll also be seen in upcoming movie Farming, the directorial debut of former Game of Thrones actor Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, due later this year.
