Casting News: Jude Law to Star in Limited Series 'The Third Day'

Today brings exciting news for Jude Law fans: the British actor has lined up his next TV project.

According to Deadline, Law has signed up to star in The Third Day, a new six-part limited series being produced jointly by HBO and U.K. network Sky.

Written by Dennis Kelly, who previously created cult British TV drama Utopia, The Third Day definitely has an interesting set-up. Law will play Sam, a man who finds himself on a mysterious island off the coast of the British isles where the inhabitants are secretive and committed to a set of strange rituals.

On the island, Sam apparently goes on an "emotional quest" which puts him "at odds" with their way of life. Pretty intriguing, no?

Law's co-stars have yet to be announced, but Sky's Cameron Roach has teased that he'll be "at the helm of what promises to be a world class cast," so watch this space!

Shooting is due to to start next month, with BAFTA-winning director Marc Munden (National Treasure, Utopia) behind the camera.

Before then, Law will be seen in another HBO drama, The New Pope, which is due to debut later this year. It's a continuation of the 2016 limited series The Young Pope, for which Law received a Golden Globe nomination for his performance as Pope Pius XIII, the newly elected Pope and former Archbishop of New York. His co-stars in The New Pope include John Malkovich and Sharon Stone.

Are you excited for both of Jude Law's upcoming TV series?
