Casting News: Jim Broadbent to Star in U.K. Remake of 'Call My Agent!'

Oscar winner Jim Broadbent is among the ensemble cast confirmed for the U.K. remake of hit French comedy series Call My Agent!, reports Deadline.

Also starring in the hotly anticipated remake will be Jack Davenport (The Morning Show), Lydia Leonard (Gentleman Jack), Prasanna Puwanarajah (Doctor Foster), Maggie Steed (Pie in the Sky), Tim McInnerny (Gangs of London), and Fola Evans-Akingbola (Black Mirror).

Hiftu Quasem (Killing Eve), Rebecca Humphries (Trigonometry), Harry Trevaldwyn (The King), and Eléonore Arnaud (Nu) have all been cast, too.

The French original follows the employees of a Parisian talent agency struggling to keep its clients happy following the death of their founder. It premiered in 2015 on French Network France 2 and has since built a cult international fanbase on Netflix.

John Morton, creator of the acclaimed BBC mockumentaries W1A and Twenty Twelve, will serve as an executive producer on the remake, in addition to writing and directing its first two episodes. "John went to speak to U.K. agencies and agents and this adaptation is inspired by stories he heard, as well as by books and interviews," fellow executive producer Christian Baute told Deadline.

During its four-season run to date, Call My Agent! has attracted guest appearances from legendary French actors including Isabelle Huppert, Jean Jujardin, and Juliette Binoche. A "host of A-list Brit and U.S. guest stars" are said to have been lined up to appear in the remake, which will delve into "transatlantic industry relationships" as well as the tricky British class system.

The eight-part series is due to begin shooting at the start of next week (May 11).
