Casting News: Idris Elba to Star in Horsemanship Drama 'Concrete Cowboys'

Are you ready to see Idris Elba on horseback? The Luther fave is saddling up for Concrete Cowboys, a new movie about North Philadelphia's Fletcher Street Urban Riding Club.

Caleb McLaughlin (Stranger Things), Lorraine Toussaint (Orange is the New Black, Selma), Byron Bowers (The Chi), and Jharrel Jerome (When They See Us) are co-starring in the movie from first-time feature director Ricky Staub.

According to Deadline, Concrete Cowboys is "inspired by" the acclaimed novel Ghetto Cowboy by Greg Neri. McLaughlin will play 15-year-old Cole, who moves in with his estranged father Harp (Elba) in North Philadelphia, where he discovers a century-long tradition of encouraging black urban cowboys and horsemanship in an area where poverty and violence are rife.

Elba is also serving as a producer on the movie, which is shooting now, and he's already been photographed taking horse riding lessons.

Of course, he's already riding high on the success of Hobbs & Shaw, which grossed over $180 million globally during its opening weekend. Next up is the much-discussed movie-musical Cats, in which he plays badass cat Macavity, the Suicide Squad sequel, and a motion-capture performance as a mouse in comic book movie Mouse Guard.

Is there anything he can't do? Probably not, to be honest!
