Casting News: Idris Elba to Play Motion-Capture Mouse in Comic Book Movie 'Mouse Guard'
We all know Idris Elba is a man of many talents, but his next role could be his most surprising yet. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Luther star is "in final negotiations" to play a mouse in upcoming comic book movie Mouse Guard.
This would be a motion capture performance from Elba, who'd join a cast that already includes motion capture specialist Andy Serkis and Game of Thrones actor Thomas Brodie-Sangster. Mouse Guard is being directed by Wes Ball, who previously directed Brodie-Sangster in the Maze Runner movies.
Based on a series of comic books by David Petersen, Mouse Guard takes place in a medieval world defined by power struggles; it's often likened to Game of Thrones. Elba is being lined up to play Celanawe, a once-powerful elder statesman figure who is making something of a comeback.
Shooting is due to start in May, and Mouse Guard creator Petersen is clearly pretty excited about the prospect of Elba joining the movie.

Before Mouse Guard, we'll see Elba in August's Fast & Furious spin-off Hobbs & Shaw, whose latest trailer he narrates.
He's also confirmed for the Suicide Squad sequel, upcoming sci-fi film Deeper and the big screen adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Cats, in which he's playing Macavity.
Oh, and Elba is also due to show off his DJing skills at next month's Coachella Festival in California. Does he ever sleep?!
