Casting News: Idris Elba Joins Jay-Z's Western 'The Harder They Fall'
Idris Elba is saddling up again, this time for a Western movie called The Harder They Fall from producer Jay-Z.
According to Deadline, the Netflix movie is an "all-black Western" that's being directed by Jeymes Samuel, the singer-songwriter and filmmaker who's also known as The Bullitts.
Elba joins rising star Jonathan Majors (The Last Black Man in San Francisco) in the movie, which will feature original music from Samuel and Jay-Z.
The official logline teases: "When outlaw Nat Love (Majors) discovers that the man (Elba) who killed his parents two decades ago is being released from prison, he reunites with his gang to track his enemy down and seek his revenge."
Elba has already been spotted honing his horse riding skills for Concrete Cowboys, a new movie about North Philadelphia’s Fletcher Street Urban Riding Club. He's starring opposite 18-year-old Stranger Things actor Caleb McLaughlin in that one.
Other Elba projects in the pipeline include the much-discussed movie-musical Cats, due in theaters December 20, in which he plays badass cat Macavity. He's also starring in the Suicide Squad sequel and giving a motion-capture performance as a mouse in upcoming comic book movie Mouse Guard.
Earlier this year, the multi-tasking star even scored his first hit single with a feature on "Boasty," a gold-selling U.K. single by Wiley, Stefflon Don, and Sean Paul. Check out the video below.
