Hot off his role in summer box office hit Where the Crawdads Sing, rising star Harris Dickinson has signed up for an equally intriguing role in sporting biopic The Iron Claw.
According to Deadline, the 26-year-old Brit will portray late professional wrestler David Von Erich in the movie, which is being directed by Sean Durkin (Martha Marcy May Marlene, U.K. drama series Southcliffe). Zac Efron has already been cast as David's brother and fellow pro wrestler, Kevin Von Erich.
The movie is said to follow the "rise and fall" of the Von Erich family, who have been major players in the American pro wrestling world since the 1960s.
Dickinson, who hails from East London, broke through with his acclaimed performance as a conflicted Brooklyn teenager in the 2017 coming-of-age movie Beach Rats. He has since balanced roles in British movies including The Souvenir Part II and The King's Man with stateside projects such as Where the Crawdads Sing, in which he stars opposite Daisy Edgar-Jones as a high school quarterback who is less upstanding than he initially seems.
He also played oil heir John Paul Getty III in Danny Boyle's hit miniseries Trust: another demonstration of his range.
