Casting News: Emma Stone to Star as a 'Punk' Cruella de Vil in '101' Prequel
The villainous Cruella de Vil has a craving for the finer things, and she was not above collecting puppies for making fur coats in Disney's 101 Dalmatians.
Now, we'll find out where this woman and her champagne living tastes came from in a prequel called Cruella. It was just confirmed yesterday (December 4) that Emma Stone (La La Land) will take on the role, and it's said that the origin story will be set in the 1980s and have a "punk vibe," according to Vulture.
In addition to the casting news, there's talk of I, Tonya director Craig Gillespie handling the project. The Tonya Harding biopic was set in the 1990s and had a very raw feel to it. His involvement isn't 100 percent confirmed, but, if so, his previous work helps picture what's to come with Cruella.
