The Crown's Emma Corrin has signed up to star opposite Harry Styles in the LGBTQ-themed romantic movie My Policeman.

Based on the 2012 novel of the same name by Bethan Roberts, the movie will explore a love triangle whose roots lie in Brighton in the 1950s, a time when homosexuality was illegal in England. The story begins in the 1990s when Patrick, an elderly man in poor health, arrives at the home of characters Marion and Tom and stirs up ghosts from the couple's past.

Deadline reports that Corrin will play Marion and Styles will portray Tom, presumably in the 1950s portion of the story. Lily James was previously attached to the role of Marion.

Tony Award-nominated theater director Michael Grandage is directing from a screenplay by Ron Nyswaner (Philadelphia, Homeland), with shooting due to start in April.

The casting news caps a fantastic week for 25-year-old Corrin, who has just received Golden Globe and SAG Award nominations for her performance as Lady Diana Spencer, the future Princess of Wales, in The Crown. Her excitable reaction to the first nomination proved very popular with fans on Twitter.
