Casting News: Emily Blunt and Jamie Dornan to Star in 'Wild Mountain Thyme'
Emily Blunt (A Quiet Place) and Jamie Dornan (The Fall) are teaming up together for a new project, reports The Hollywood Reporter. They're set to play later in life lovers, who are kept at a distance, in the Irish romance film Wild Mountain Thyme.
Based on Patrick Shanley's 2014 Broadway play Outside Mullingar, Blunt takes on the role of Rosemary, with Dornan starring as Anthony. The story takes place in the Irish countryside, with both working as farmers, living next to each other. According to the play's description, Rosemary has been in love with Anthony all of her life, but Anthony has no idea she has a soft spot for him.
Another conundrum for shy Anthony, he is not keen on farming and his father (Christopher Walken) plans to leave the land to his American cousin (John Hamm), ultimately disinheriting his son. Things get tricky for Rosemary and Anthony's budding relationship when a feud about land erupts between the two families.
It's not all doom and gloom, though, since it's actually a comedy. Here's peek at the stage production, starring Brían F. O'Byrne and Debra Messing in the lead roles:

If you're not familiar with Shanley's work, he won the 1988 Academy Award for Best Screenplay for the film Moonstruck. He's definitely got tragic love down. Since then, he won the 2005 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and 2005 Tony Award for Best Drama for his play Doubt: A Parable.
Shanley will write the screenplay for the adaptation, with production to begin on September 30 in Ireland.
In addition to Blunt and Dornan, you can look for Dearbhla Molloy (The Ferryman), who played Aoife (pronounced like Ee-fa) in the Broadway production.
