Casting News: Daniel Radcliffe Set to Portray Weird Al Yankovic in Biopic Movie

We never really thought about Weird Al Yankovic getting the biopic treatment.
But, now that we are thinking about it, we can see Daniel Radcliffe in the role.
It’s not just because we think he can tackle any character, but also based on past projects, that he’s inclined to go the less obvious route (Horns, Swiss Army Man).
Funny or Die alum Eric Appel is set to direct and co-write with Yankovic. Appel talked to Empire about how the two teamed up, saying, “When Weird Al first sat me down against my will and told me his life story, I didn’t believe any of it, but I knew that we had to make a movie about it.”
That must be quite the story, but we digress…
Yankovic, on the other hand, has been planning this for a while, jokingly pointing out there’s a gap in his resume: “When my last movie UHF came out in 1989, I made a solemn vow to my fans that I would release a major motion picture every 33 years, like clockwork. I’m very happy to say we’re on schedule.”
Coincidentally, Radcliffe was born in 1989, which seems rather serendipitous.
With that said, Yankovic is very keen on the casting, saying, “And I am absolutely thrilled that Daniel Radcliffe will be portraying me in the film. I have no doubt whatsoever that this is the role future generations will remember him for.”
We will say, Yankovic is still the jokester.
Appel doesn’t necessarily reveal what was so enticing in Yankovic’s retelling of his life.
But, we shall find out when the movie comes out, landing over at The Roku Channel.
