Casting News: 'Bodyguard's Richard Madden 'In Talks' to Join Angelina Jolie in Marvel's 'The Eternals'

This is not a drill: Bodyguard star Richard Madden could be about to join the MCU!

According to Variety, Game of Thrones alum (he played Robb Stark) is "in talks" to join Marvel's The Eternals, an upcoming movie based on the comic book series of the same name.

He'd join a cast that already includes Dame Angelina Jolie and The Big Sick's Kumail Nanjiani.

Launched in the '70s, The Eternals centers on a near-immortal crew of super powered beings who defend the Earth against their destructive offshoot group, the Deviants.

Madden is understood to be circling the role of Ikaris, a man fueled by cosmic energy, whose story is said to involves a romance with Jolie's character, Sersi. No word yet on whether he'll call her "ma'am."

Indie director Chloe Zhao (The Rider, Songs My Brother Taught Me) is directing from a script by cousins Matthew and Ryan Firpo, who have also written upcoming Margot Robbie-fronted war movie Ruin.

Madden is enjoying a hot streak following his Golden Globe-winning role in BBC/Netflix hit Bodyguard. He'll next be seen in the Elton John biopic Rocketman, playing the pop star's manager John Reid opposite Taron Egerton as the piano man.

He's also joining Colin Firth and Benedict Cumberbatch in Sam Mendes' upcoming war movie 1917, which is due to open in theaters December 25.
