Casting News: 'Beauty and the Beast' Star Josh Gad Set for Zombie-Comedy Movie 'Little Monsters'
Josh Gad is popping up in some of our favorite genres, like the live-action version of Disney's fairy tale Beauty and the Beast, this year's adaptation of Agatha Christie 's whodunit Murder on the Orient Express, and now... a zombie-comedy, which we'd like to refer to as a two-for-one deal.
Filmmakers never seem to tire of trying to reinvent the zombie genre, like 2016's Pride and Prejudice and Zombies mashup, starring Lily James (War & Peace) and Matt Smith (Doctor Who).
In an attempt to rejigger the slightly predictable formula — people die and then come back to life — writer-director Abe Forsythe (Mr. & Mrs. Murder) has added a group of kindergarteners on a school field trip to the storyline, reports ComingSoon.net.
You know what they say, "Never work with children and zombies..." Oh, wait, or is it actually children and animals?
Gad portrays a famous children's show personality, who has an eye on one of the teachers, played by Lupita Nyong’o (12 Years a Slave). But, he's not alone, apparently one of the chaperones (Alexander England) is vying for her attention as well.
With her being a teacher, she probably has other priorities that may usurp her potential dating life, like... keeping a watch over her students.
We're guessing everyone's attention will shift once the zombies enter the mix.
Filming will take place in Australia, but the start date has yet to be announced.
Let's just hope the title of the movie, Little Monsters, refers to the zombie breakout, not the gaggle of five-year-olds.
Are you up for an ol' fashioned zombie romp on the big screen?
