Brad Pitt to Play Formula One Driver on the Comeback Trail in Currently Untitled Movie
Brad Pitt is raring to go on a movie set in the world of Formula One racing.
According to Deadline, the Oscar-winning actor is set to play a fictional racing car driver who comes out of retirement to mentor a young up-and-comer. In the process, he ends up returning to the track as the younger driver's teammate.
The currently untitled movie will be directed by Joseph Kosinski, whose other credits include Tron: Legacy and the upcoming Top Gun sequel Top Gun: Maverick. Ehren Kruger, the co-writer of Top Gun: Maverick, is penning the script.
Meanwhile, seven-time Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton will serve as a consultant on the film, which is being produced by Hollywood veteran Jerry Bruckheimer (Beverly Hills Cop, Pirates of the Caribbean). Given the level of talent involved, it's no great surprise to hear that Apple TV+ is finalizing a deal to acquire the movie.
There's no word yet, however, on who will play the younger driver.
Pitt will follow in the footsteps – or should that be tire tracks? – of Chris Hemsworth and Daniel Brühl, who played real-life Formula One racing drivers James Hunt and Niki Lauda in the acclaimed 2013 movie Rush.
