Sadly, Chadwick Boseman (Black Panther) passed away from colon cancer on Friday, at the age of 43, reports BBC News.

He was first diagnosed with Stage III colon cancer in 2016 and it progressively got worse, according to his family in a statement. He kept his struggles private, so this is quite a shock to his fans and the public.

Boseman made international acclaim in 2018, taking on the title role in Marvel's Black Panther, starring as T'Challa, heir to the kingdom of Wakanda, who also doubles as the superhero Black Panther.

We had met Boseman as T'Challa in 2016's Captain America: Civil War, but the 2018 standalone film really put a spotlight on him and his character. We also saw him reprise the groundbreaking role in 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War and 2019’s Avengers: Endgame.

In 2019, he won a Screen Actors Guild award for his performance in Black Panther, amongst other awards, like the MTV Movie Award for Best Superhero.

But, before he stepped into the superhero world, he made a name for himself starring in TV series like Lincoln Heights (2008-2009) and Persons Unknown (2010).
