Billie Piper has lined up her next passion project: a series adaptation of Terri White's harrowing memoir Coming Undone, reports Deadline.
Piper will star in and executive produce the Netflix adaptation, which White is writing based on her acclaimed book. Published in 2020, Coming Undone chronicles White's years as a successful magazine editor who was privately dealing with severe mental health issues rooted in childhood abuse and trauma. This ultimately led to her spending time in a psychiatric ward.
White said in a statement to Empire, the magazine she served as editor-in-chief of between 2015 and 2021: "Billie Piper. Actual Billie Piper! As she’s shown with the likes of I Hate Suzie and her directorial debut Rare Beasts, whether behind the camera or in front of it, Billie is a complete force.
"I’m completely over the moon (and still shocked, to be honest) that she’s not only starring in our adaptation of Coming Undone but exec producing it. The absolute dream."
Last year Piper received a BAFTA TV Award nomination for her performance in I Hate Suzie, a dark comedy-drama series that she co-created with Succession writer Lucy Prebble. She also released Rare Beasts, an indie film that she wrote, directed, and starred in.
