Anna Friel to Star in Thriller Series 'The Perfect Girlfriend'

Do you remember Anna Friel from the supernatural comedy Pushing Daisies (2007-2009)? We do! And since then, she's starred in other acclaimed series like Marcella (2016-2020) and Deep Water (2019).

We can now look for more of her on TV, as she's just signed on for the forthcoming series The Perfect Girlfriend, reports Deadline.

The series is based on Karen Hamilton's 2018 novel, which Friel narrated the audiobook version of.

There is no such thing as perfect, so this leaves us intrigued as to what makes her close to it... or, the opposite, not at all.

The synopsis for the story helps explains the title, which reads, "The darkness in her past doesn’t matter, because she’s moved beyond all that, and she’s building a great new life for herself, one that will impress her ex-boyfriend, Nate, who left her in a foolish moment of commitment-phobia, one that he surely regrets now."

Friel is set to take on the role of a woman named Juliette, who is training to be a flight attendant. It sounds like she's also training to be the perfect girlfriend. The description goes on to say that she's such a good caretaker, as she cleans her ex-boyfriends apartment when he's not there and stocks the fridge with all of his favorite goodies.

That may come across as thoughtful or... breaking and entering?

Her ex-boyfriend is in a new relationship, but with his current girlfriend being an "airhead" it's just a matter of time before he comes to his senses and returns to Juliette.

Friel sounds pretty excited about this new role, releasing a statement, saying, "Karen (Hamilton) has entrusted to me the vibrant and compelling world of Juliette and I can’t wait to introduce her to you all," reports Deadline.

There's no start date as of yet, which gives us time to read the book before the series premieres.

Is this going on your read/watch list!?
