With roles in movies including Hacksaw Ridge, Warm Bodies, and Lights Out, Australian actress Teresa Palmer has established herself as a firm favorite in recent years. Now, she's tackling her first series regular TV role in A Discovery of Witches, the hit supernatural drama based on Deborah Harkness's All Souls trilogy being simulcast on BBC America and AMC. Ahead of episode two, which airs Sunday 9/8c right after Killing Eve, here are some fascinating facts about Palmer that you might not know yet...

1. She's named after Mother Teresa.

"My mum actually named me after Mother Teresa because my mum’s a missionary," Palmer recalled in a 2011 interview. "She’s given up her life to look after others and she always told me when I started acting that I could really use the power I might have to help a lot of people and the greater community. I’ve always had that in the back of my mind and as I further my career, I think a lot about how I can help people in the good way."

2. She realized she wanted to be an actress after watching the '90s family movie A Little Princess at the age of nine.

So Palmer took acting lessons from the age of 14, then moved to L.A. to pursue a career in Hollywood at 19.

3. Growing up, she had pet kangaroos... well, sort of.

"I grew up with Australian endangered species on my dad's private wildlife sanctuary, which was the quintessential Australian upbringing," she told MTV in 2013. "Most people don’t actually [have that], but it’s the idea of what an Australian upbringing would be like. 'Oh, they jump to school on their kangaroos!' Well, the funny joke with me was that I actually did have pet kangaroos. It was very typically Australian, my upbringing. It was really fantastic."

4. The first CD she ever bought was Middle of Nowhere by Hanson.

5. Growing up, she had a bit of an artistic phase.

"As the delinquent teenager I was, I tried to start being called by my graffiti tag 'Habitz,'" Palmer told BuzzFeed in 2016. "No matter how hard I tried, it just never caught on and I got lumped with 'Tezza.'"

6. She met her husband, actor and director Mark Webber, on Twitter.

After Palmer tweeted in support of Webber's movie The End of Love, the pair began emailing one another and felt a connection – Palmer's described it as a "very modern romance." She and Webber tied the knot in 2013 and now have two children, Bodhi and Forest.

7. She and Webber collaborated creatively on the 2014 movie The Ever After.

Webber directed the film from a screenplay that he and Palmer wrote together. They both appeared in the movie, too, leading a cast that included Melissa Leo and Rosario Dawson.

9. She's the joint "number one ticket holder" at her local Australian Rules football club, Port Adelaide.

Common in Australia, "number one ticket holder' is a symbolic role awarded to a famous fan who can help raise a team's profile and make appearances at official events. Go Port Adelaide!

10. She's been mistaken in the past for Kristen Stewart!

“I have been recognized for her on the street, and I’ve just gone ahead and signed her name," Palmer recalled in an interview a few years ago. "I’ve been like, ‘You know what, whatever, I’m just gonna sign her name,’ because the person was so crazy excited and so I decided to just go along with it.'"
