10 Anglo Favorites Starring as Your Favorite Superheroes

You can look for Oscar Isaac as the Marvel vigilante Marc Spector in the forthcoming Moon Knight. His character is quite complex, going from a former CIA agent to mercenary, and on top of that, struggling with dissociative identity disorder.
To make things even more tricky, he now has superhuman abilities, which have been bestowed on him by an Egyptian moon god.
Superheroes come in all different forms, but they are consistent in the fact that they have a lot going on.
Here are 10 of our favorite actors taking on the heavy-lifting for these hefty roles:

1. Benedict Cumberbatch

Doctor Strange premiered in 2016, with Benedict Cumberbatch taking on the title role. Cumberbatch portrays Stephen Strange, a renowned surgeon. When he is no longer able to perform surgery, he becomes lost in life. From there, he goes on a search for answers, finding purpose and a new alter-ego.
2. Karen Gillan

Karen Gillan joined the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise in 2014. You can look for Gillan as Nebula, an alien mercenary. While she starts off as a baddie, she eventually evolves, leaning into goodness. It just takes her a minute to let go of feelings of resentment and embrace her true calling.
3. Margot Robbie

Suicide Squad kicked off in 2016, starring an ensemble cast. But, it was Margot Robbie who stole the show as Harley Quinn. Robbie starts off as Dr. Harleen Quinzel, but after The Joker throws her into a vat of acid, she comes out as the villainous Quinn. Even so, she turns from bad to good in front of our eyes.
4. Tom Hardy

Tom Hardy’s role in Venom is another character that is considered an anti-hero. Hardy stars as journalist Eddy Brock, who is taken over by a parasitic alien. Brock struggles to fight off the alien, who can control his body and his mind. It is a battle of wills and just a question of who will win out in the end.
5. Henry Cavill

On the other hand, Superman is pretty straight-forward — he’s all good. Henry Cavill stepped into the iconic role, starring in 2013’s Man of Steel. While the name of the movie may have changed, the storyline is the same, with an alien child sent to Earth for safety, as his planet has been destroyed.
6. Krysten Ritter

Jessica Jones was the crime fighter we had been waiting for. Krysten Ritter brought the street-level superhero to life in 2015. We also saw David Tennant as the villainous Kilgrave, aka Purple Man. While Jones was reluctant in using her abilities to save others, she rose to the occasion.
7. James McAvoy

The X-Men franchise has been around for a while, premiering in 2000. But, there wouldn’t be X-Men if it weren’t for Professor X and his school for the mutant teens, which we saw the start of in 2011’s X-Men: First Class. James McAvoy stepped into the role, made famous by Anglo favorite Patrick Stewart.
8. Tom Hiddleston

Tom Hiddleston’s Loki straddles the line between good and bad in the Thor franchise. He’s mostly bad, being the God of Mischief, but he’s just so good at it. And, he has his moments when he actually puts others before himself. It landed him his own TV series in 2021, so he must be doing something right.
9. Robert Pattinson

We’ll see a new iteration of Batman with Robert Pattinson starring in 2022’s The Batman. He’ll be playing a dual-role as Bruce Wayne and his alter-ego The Caped Crusader. We can also look for Colin Farrell as the diabolical Penguin. In this case, we’re getting a two-for-one deal with Anglo favorites.
10. Tatiana Maslany

Tatiana Maslany has signed on to star in the forthcoming She-Hulk series. We can look for Maslany as Jennifer Walters, who is just a regular girl, until… she gets a blood transfusion from her cousin Bruce Banner. Banner’s superhuman abilities are passed onto Walters, but she can control when she shifts.
We’re liking this Anglo favorite/superhero mash-up, what about you?
