It’s been a heady week for Jude Law news. Just last Friday (November 17) we learned what the Young Pope star would look like as a young Albus Dumbledore (answer: beardy), and today (November 24) brings news he’s about to join a Marvel movie.

And not just any Marvel movie either, but Captain Marvel, the Marvel-est Marvel movie of them all.

Variety reports that Jude is currently in talks to play the male lead opposite Oscar winner Brie Larson, who’s playing Carol Danvers, an Air Force pilot who becomes superhero Captain Marvel when her DNA becomes accidentally fused with an alien’s.

Apparently his character will be Doctor Walter Lawson, a.k.a. Mar-Vell (geddit?), who becomes a mentor of sorts to Carol as she tries to figure out her new powers.

An enterprising fan has already imagined what he might look like in the role with this impressive art work:

Other actors confirmed for the film are Rogue One‘s Ben Mendelsohn, who’ll play an unspecified villain, and Samuel L. Jackson, who’ll reprise his role as Nick Fury from the Iron Man and Avengers movies.

Captain Marvel is expected to start filming next year and open in theaters on March 8, 2019, just a few months after Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.

Are you looking forward to a double helping of Jude?
