Star Trek is the franchise that keeps on giving. The original series, which kicked off in 1966, only ran for three seasons. But, even so, it became a pop culture phenomenon, with a number of spinoff series and films since then.
We first saw Patrick Stewart as Captain Jean-Luc Picard in Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987-1994). In 2020, he revisited the role in Star Trek: Picard. We can look for a second season in 2022 and a third season has recently been confirmed, reports Empire Online.
In the first season, we see Picard is retired but returns to space travel when he learns his friend Spock has been catapulted back in time.
The second season is scheduled to premiere in February 2022 with a new trailer providing a first look:
In the second season, Picard goes up against his foe Q (John de Lancie) who has changed the past, throwing Earth into a political spiral.
Picard announces in the new clip, "We can save the future, and I will get us home... together."
He is taking on a lot, but he's not going it alone, as he's recruited the help of the Borg Queen (Annie Wersching).
We just mentioned Stewart in our roundup of actors in their 60s, 70s and 80s, who are creating amazing work.
And, as we can see from this clip and the season three announcement, he's still at it and there's more to come.
