Emerald Fennell wrote and acted as showrunner for season two of Killing Eve. From there, she wrote and directed Promising Young Woman, starring Carey Mulligan.

Needless to say, she is on a roll... where does one go after achieving such big and small screen successes?

Well, Fennell is now adapting the D.C. superhero series Zatanna into a movie, and she's quite excited.

When talking to Empire Online, Fennell shared some of her plans, saying, "There are lots of things about her that felt like they could be really, really interesting. And it’ll be an opportunity to make something really quite dark. And that appealed to me, to make something big and scary. I love that stuff."

Zatanna is a powerful sorceress, who doubles as a magician. She gets her abilities and skill set from her father.

It's not clear what the movie will be about, but in the comic book series, Zatanna is in search of her father.

While the storyline might still be in the early stages, Fennel talks about what to expect in regards to production, saying, "The scale of [these movies] is so massive and so thrilling. Like, why wouldn’t you want to write something like that when you can write huge, massive, crazy sequences and fights?"

Fennell explores another way to go, which makes her chuckle, saying, "Normally you’re like, how can I show this in the smallest cheapest way [laughs]? To have complete freedom to really let your imagination run wild is such a joy."

There's no start date as of yet, but we'll let you know when the production gets some movement.

In the meantime, let's have a catch-up with another superhuman, Eve Polastri.

She may not be a superhero technically, but kind of, depending how you look at it.
