David and Georgia Tennant to Star in Jekyll and Hyde-Inspired Series 'Hide'
Today brings news that is doubly exciting for fans of the Tennant clan. David Tennant and wife Georgia Tennant are working together on Hide, a new series inspired by the classic tale of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
According to Deadline, the husband-and-wife duo will star in and executive produce the series, which is in the works over at streaming platform Peacock.
The series is described as "a Jekyll & Hyde tale by way of a conspiracy thriller." Doctor Who favorite David Tennant will play a disgraced journalist who uncovers a story that could revive his career, but which also makes him a target for shadowy and dangerous adversaries. Along the way, he suffers an accident that has a series side effects, which is presumably where the Jekyll and Hyde element of the story comes in.
The series is being directed and executive produced by Julie Anne Robinson, who previously worked with David Tennant on the 2004 BBC drama series Blackpool. Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters (Agent Carter) are serving as showrunners.
"One of my earliest jobs was playing 'first policeman' in a BBC radio adaptation of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde," David Tennant said in a statement. "I read the book many years ago and I've been fascinated with this character for as long as I can remember. This story has followed me around for years, tapping on my shoulder slightly impatiently. When Julie Anne approached me to talk about reimagining it for the 21st century, alongside her, the magnificent Fazekas and Butters and with the ever-brilliant Georgia Tennant, I didn't let her finish the sentence. I couldn't be more thrilled to be playing this character, telling this story and working with these people."
David and Georgia Tennant have recently worked together on the lockdown-themed comedy series Staged, which they both appear in and Georgia produces. The couple met, of course, while filming the popular Doctor Who episode "The Doctor's Daughter" back in 2008.
