Carey Mulligan is Working with 'Killing Eve's' Emerald Fennel on Dark Comedy 'Promising Young Woman'

Carey Mulligan (Collateral) is teaming up with writer Emerald Fennel (Killing Eve season two) for a new film project, called Promising Young Woman. Fennel will also be directing, making this her feature film debut.

The IMDB one-line description reads: "A young woman, traumatized by a tragic event in her past, seeks out vengeance against the men who cross her path."

Mulligan is set to play a woman named Cassie, who recently dropped out of medical school and is back living at her parents' house. She passes time working at a coffee shop. Everyone around her is worried and thinks she's at a standstill. There is definitely activity in Cassie's life, but it's happening at night, away from watchful eyes.

Fennell released a statement about collaborating on the dark comedy, saying, "Frankly, I feel lucky to be allowed anywhere in the vicinity of so many geniuses, and I can’t wait to bring this twisted tale to life," reports Variety.

Production has just begun, with the film predicted to release in 2020. We can also look for Alison Brie (GLOW), Connie Britton (Dirty John), Adam Brody (Shazam!), Jennifer Coolidge (2 Broke Girls), Bo Burnham (The Big Sick) and Laverne Cox (Orange is the New Black), with their roles yet to be disclosed.
