Bond Boss Barbara Broccoli Says Idris Elba Is Part of the Conversation

The James Bond conversation is still going strong.
And, it probably won’t stop until the decision is made on who is set to play the next 007.
The conversation may change, of course, but it will still carry on.
In a recent interview with Deadline, longtime Bond producer Barbara Broccoli talked about what’s next.
She didn’t make a concrete commitment to casting the lead for the next Bond movie, but she did say something somewhat revealing — that Idris Elba has come up.
Of course, Elba has been tapped as a possible pick in online debates, but now it’s much more tangible.
During a catch-up with Deadline’s Crew Call podcast, she said, “Well, we know Idris, we're friends with him, and he's a magnificent actor. And, you know, it's been part of the conversation, but it's always difficult to have the conversation when you have someone in the seat."
Hmm, well Daniel Craig is now out of the seat.
But, we get that people are still enjoying the release of 2021’s No Time to Die and maybe it’s a bit premature to talk about who’s up next when the seat is still warm.
Even so, Broccoli is talking about it.
We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: if they talk about it, it may just happen.
She summed up the conversation by reiterating her respect for Craig, saying, “I think we have decided that until No Time to Die has had its run and Daniel has been able to – well, we've all been able to savor, reap the benefits of Daniel's wonderful tenure, we're not gonna think about, or talk about anybody else.”
There is a slight caveat to the above, because she did talk about it.
We won’t hold her to it, but it appears there is some serious movement in “The Bond Debate.”
Are you surprised that Barbara Broccoli provided a hard maybe for Idris Elba?
