It’s official: Normal People actor Paul Mescal is starring in “Scarlet,” the new music video from the legendary Rolling Stones.

The long-running rock band confirmed the news in a tweet, revealing that the video for their new single “Scarlet” will premiere Thursday with a special introduction from Mescal and frontman Sir Mick Jagger.

“Scarlet” is actually a new “old” song from the veteran band. It’s a never-heard-before outtake from their classic 1973 album Goats Head Soup, which is due to appear on the upcoming reissue version dropping September 4.

A clip from the video shows Mescal nursing a stiff drink and apparently slurring his words slightly, which might offer some kind of clue as to its storyline.

Being cast in a Rolling Stones video caps a stellar summer for the Irish actor, who has just received a Primetime Emmy nomination for his performance as popular and whip smart Irish university student Connell Waldron in the BBC/Hulu miniseries Normal People.

After several news outlet erroneously referred to Mescal as British in their coverage of the Primetime Emmy nominations, Mescal tweeted matter-of-factly to remind people of where he actually hails from.
