Pause everything. David Tennant has taken part in an AMA – or “Ask Me Anything” – session on Reddit.
The Doctor Who favorite took part in the virtual Q&A to promote the second season of his self-titled podcast, which includes interviews with the likes of Dame Judi Dench, Jim Parsons, Brian Cox and George Takei.
During the AMA, Tennant was asked whether there’s any other franchise he’d like to “cross off [his] acting/voice acting bucket list” – such as Transformers, Star Trek and Power Rangers.
“Star Trek would be great,” he replied. “After talking to George Takei for the podcast I’ve got a bit immersed in it.”
He was also asked a Doctor Who-related question: “During your time on [the show], what were your favorite episodes to film and would you like to appear in an episode with Jodie Whittaker?”
“Pfffft. I can’t nominate a favorite. It wouldn’t be fair. It would be like choosing your favorite child, and apparently you aren’t allowed to do that,” he replied elegantly. Sadly, he didn’t answer the Jodie Whittaker part of the question, so we’ll have to keep on dreaming about a Tenth Doctor x Thirteenth Doctor crossover.
Later, Tennant spoke about shooting his small supporting role as Barty Crouch Jr. in 2005’s Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. “I wasn’t on Harry Potter for all that long. I think I did 10 days or so over a year, so I always felt a bit like a visitor,” he recalled. “But it was great to be part of something so extraordinary. They only gave me a little chair though, so when everyone was sat around, Maggie Smith and Michael Gambon and Alan Rickman and Daniel Radcliffe all towered over me in these fancy cast chairs. Still a pleasure to be there though.”
He gave another great answer when asked where he’d travel if he had a fully functioning TARDIS (and not just a replica in his garden). “Either to the Cavern to see the Beatles in the very early 60s, or to the first performance of Hamlet at the Globe Theatre,” Tennant said. “Or perhaps I’d choose to get involved in some recent moments of history and save us all from the variety of disasters we have voted ourselves into.”
