We love us some David Tennant. And, we love hearing him speak in his native Scottish accent on-screen, when possible. Being an actor, that it isn’t always the case, but this time around he headed to Ayrshire, Scotland for filming.
He’s set to star in the thriller Deadwater Fell, which is set in the fictional Scottish town of Kirkdarroch and airing on Acorn TV in the U.S., which is now a part of the AMC Networks family (btw). If you’re in the U.K., you can look for the series on Channel 4.
The four-part series revolves around a seemingly happy family. Tennant takes on the character of the local general practitioner, Tom Kendrick. He’s married, has three children and all seems the norm. His marriage to his wife Kate (Anna Madeley) is described as “nothing short of perfect.”
That all changes when there’s a terrible tragedy and his wife and children are trapped and killed in a house fire:
At first, the close-knit community mourns alongside Kendrick, but then a lot of questions begin flying around. As hinted at in the above trailer, the fire may have been a cover-up. After further investigation, it turns out his wife and children were all injected “with something.”
If you watch Law and Order, then you know… the spouse is always a prime suspect, even if just to be canceled out.
We really hope he didn’t do it, because we’re just that keen on Tennant as an actor, but we understand it’s fiction.
The four-part Acorn original Deadwater Fell will premiere on April 6, with a new episode each week through April 27. If you’re itchin’ for more Tennant, you can always backtrack and watch him in BBC America’s critically acclaimed Broadchurch as DI Alec Hardy.
