South America is the most species-rich continent on Earth, and contains almost a whole quarter of the world’s forests. This includes the Amazon Rainforest, also known as the ‘Lungs of the Planet’ because it produces more than 20% of our oxygen.

These lands are home to around 10 million different species of animals, plants and insects, many of which are now endangered due to devastating deforestation. Visit the organizations below for more information on how you can help protect and conserve South America’s rainforests.
