Harrison Ford swung by the Today show to chat about his role in the Secret Life of Pets 2. Of course the conversation turned to the Indiana Jones franchise (1984-2008), reports Empire Online.
How can it not? The archaeologist-turned-action hero is one of his most iconic and memorable roles. When asked about the possibility of someone else taking over the character and carrying on his legacy, Ford did not mince words.
He does have a suggestion on who could take the reigns. Drum roll please!! The answer is: “nobody.”
Ford laughingly announced, “Nobody else is going to be Indiana Jones!” He went on to explain, “Don’t you get it? I’m Indiana Jones. When I’m gone, he’s gone. It’s easy…”
That’s one way to go about it. There has been talk of another actor in the in the running, which Ford addressed, saying, “This is a hell of a way to tell Chris Pine this. I’m sorry, man.”
When he says Chris Pine, he means Chris Pratt. Well, at least he got the first name correct — and we knew who he meant.
His remarks might sound harsh, but the delivery in the below clip is topped up with laughter:
There has been talk of Ford and director Steven Spielberg reuniting for a final installment, but it’s not officially-official. There is a 2021 slot set aside in IMDB for “Untitled Indiana Jones Project,” which is promising that this could happen.
