You may have read Stephen King‘s 1983 novel Pet Sematary or seen the 1989 film adaptation, but if not, the new footage for the 2019 installment is… freaky.

Which isn’t all that surprising, considering King’s track record with disturbing stories like The Shining, Cujo, and Misery, just to name a few.

In the recently released clip, we see Jason Clarke as Louis Creed. He’s confessing to his wife (Amy Seimetz) that he’s done something inconceivable. Earlier in the film, which we don’t see in the below video, his young daughter is killed in an accident. Creed blames himself for the loss, so when he comes across a way to bring his daughter back from the dead, he goes forward with the unnatural task of resurrection.

But, his daughter is not the same as when she left the world of the living:

Let’s just say his wife is not convinced this was a good idea. We can feel her fear coming off the screen, particularly when the little girl leans in for a hug.

Of course, you can read up on the story or go back and watch the 1989 film to find out the ending, but for those who don’t know the outcome… this is a tough one. The obvious solution is for the parents to have to kill their daughter a second time.

We should keep in mind, the ending can always change.

Whatever the end result, early reviews are in and are being referred to as “scary good.”

Pet Sematary hits theaters on April 5.
