X-Men‘s Jean Grey is getting an entire film dedicated to her, named after her alter-ego Dark Phoenix. Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner returns to reprise the title role.

We first met the screen version of Grey (Turner) in 2016’s X-Men: Apocalypse. In the recently released trailer (February 27) we get an immersive look at her backstory. Jean learned of her powers as a small child, simultaneously realizing she did not have control of them. Now grown, it appears she still needs some reigning in:

Per usual, the mutants’ leader, Professor X (James McAvoy) steps in to help her, but even he is at loss. Dark Phoenix is very polarizing amongst the X-Men crew, with Magneto (Michael Fassbender) giving up on her, suggesting she should die, and others like Cyclops (Tye Sheridan) standing up for her, saying, “She’s still Jean.”

Is she? Still Jean, that is? Or… all Dark Phoenix.

We will find out the outcome on June 17 when Dark Phoenix hits theaters.

We can also look for familiar faces returning to reprise their roles like Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, and Evan Peters. As well, Jessica Chastain joins the series as Smith, who pushes Dark Phoenix to embrace her powers… no matter what.

Are you excited for more X-Men!?
