Is there anything Idris Elba can’t do? The super-prolific actor is adding to his already packed résumé (and schedule!) by hosting Saturday Night Live for the first time next month. He’ll be “live from New York” on the March 9 episode of the long-running show, joined by musical guest Khalid.
Saturday Night Live shared the exciting news on Twitter.

What kind of skits will Elba appear in? Some fans on Twitter already have a suggestion…
Please let there be a James Bond skit. Please let there be a James Bond skit. Please let there be a James Bond skit. https://t.co/YwViIbLAH1

It seems safe to presume he’ll be game for a laugh; though he’s probably best known for dramatic roles in Luther and films such as Beasts Of No Nation, Elba has been bringing the funny since he made one of his first screen appearance in an episode of Absolutely Fabulous – yes, really.
Elba will also be showing off his comedy chops in his new DJ-centered Netflix show, Turn Up Charlie, which debuts March 15 on Netflix. In the eight-episode series, which he co-created, Elba plays a struggling DJ who’s given one last shot at success when he becomes a ‘Manny’ to a famous friend’s badly-behaved daughter.
Of course, in real life Elba is a very successful DJ who’s set to appear at the world-famous Coachella music festival in April. Once again: is there anything Idris Elba can’t do?
