Angelina Jolie is teaming up with writer-director Taylor Sheridan (Sicario) to adapt Michael Koryta‘s 2014 novel Those Who Wish Me Dead, reports Empire Online.
The original story revolves around a 14-year-old teen named Jace Wilson. He’s witnessed a brutal murder and in an attempt to protect him, he’s placed in a wilderness skills program for troubled teens in Montana.
Sheridan has written the screenplay for the big screen adaptation and will be directing. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film will be loosely based on the novel, with the script being “female-driven and a by-the-seat-of-your-pants chase movie.”
In addition to Jace, the book jacket introduces us to two more characters: “Allison Serbin, who run the wilderness survival program; Hannah Faber, who occupies a lonely fire lookout tower; and endless miles of desolate Montana mountains.”
It sounds like these women will ultimately step into the roles of protectors to young Jace, as they are the only ones standing between him and the Blackwell Brothers who… wish him dead.
We can see Jolie easily taking on either of the aforementioned characters. She is the first and only actor to be confirmed, with a start date yet to be announced.
