Husband and wife team John Krasinski and Emily Blunt have let a few details slip about the sequel to A Quiet Place they’re working on.

The original horror flick was a box office success when it opened in theaters earlier this year, as it showed a family — headed up by Lee and Evelyn Abbot, played by John and Emily respectively — forced to live in near-silence so as not to attract the attention of murderous extra-terrestrial creatures with hyper-sensitive hearing.

It was such a success, that talk of a follow-up movie started almost straight away, and a sequel was confirmed in April, with John once again on writing duties alongside Bryan Woods and Scott Peck.

Just how the original film will be revisited isn’t yet clear, but Emily and John let a few details slip in an interview released by Entertainment Weekly on Friday (November 2).

“The idea of seeing who these people were before this all happened would be interesting,” said Emily, before revealing that fans seemed more eager to pick up where the first film left the Abbot family.

John is already hard at work on the script, and according to him, the sequel offers many opportunities, and his comparison with Alien and Jaws suggests this is a franchise that could run and run.

“This is a world you can play in, this isn’t just a character to remake,” he says. “It’s actually a world, which is a whole different, very unique experience.”

And then there’s Millicent Simmonds, who plays the eldest Abbott child in the film, and also has some ideas for the next installment. Watch:

A Quiet Place 2 is set for release on May 15, 2020.
