Filming for The Girl in the Spider’s Web has just wrapped, so to celebrate, we got a first look at Claire Foy as Lisbeth Salander.

The Crown star has been rocking a short ‘do for a while now, but in a photocall in Stockholm, Sweden on Friday (April 13) she had it styled like the tattooed computer hacker made famous by Stieg Larsson‘s Millennium series of crime novels.

See for yourself:

Portraying such an iconic character has always been a double-edged sword: it’s a big role on the one hand, but one that comes with the added pressure of getting it right for the millions of Millennium fans around the world. Noomi Rapace and Rooney Mara gave it a go respectively in the Swedish and American versions of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, and now it’s Claire’s turn.

Based on a book written by David Lagercrantz — who stepped in to take over the Millennium series, following Stieg Larsson’s death in 2004 — the new film is a follow-up to The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo franchise. The book is fourth in the series and sees Lisbeth face off against a criminal organization called The Spider Society, resulting in some surprising revelations about her own family.

“[The director] Fede [Álvarez] always told me that it was the story of Lisbeth and where she’s come from, where she’s going to,” Claire explained to camera. “At the beginning of the story, you sort of find somebody who’s looking for what their purpose in life is, really.”

Alongside Claire were director Fede, as well as her co-stars Sverrir Gudnason, who takes over from Daniel Craig as journalist Mikael Blomkvist; Stephen Merchant, whose beardiness gives little away about his character; and Get Out‘s Lakeith Stanfield, who plays an NSA security expert called Alona Casales.

The Girl in the Spider’s Web is due in theaters on November 9, 2018.

How do you think Claire compares with Noomi and Rooney?
