James Corden‘s year just got that much busier. As well as hosting the Late Late Show, starting a third (count ’em) show on American TV, and voicing the lead character in Peter Rabbit, he’ll be popping up in upcoming crime caper Ocean’s Eight.

Variety reports that the late-night talkshow host will join Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Rihanna, Helena Bonham Carter, Mindy Kaling, and Awkwafina in the all-female reboot of Ocean’s Eleven — Ocean’s Eight.

He won’t be the only Y-chromosome carrier in the cast, however. We reported in December that Homeland‘s Damien Lewis will play Sandra’s ex-lover, who becomes the target of a major heist she plans with a group of cons and thieves. Original Ocean’s Eleven-er Matt Damon is also expected to pop up in a cameo role.

James will, apparently, play an insurance investigator. Hmm. That’s not the kind of character we’re used to seeing in heist movies. Although, on reflection, this is probably exactly the sort of person who turns up unannounced after your average real-life heist.

“Insurance investigator” hardly sounds like a barrel of laughs, although we expect funnyman James will make it so. He’s got the chops, after all, with roles in comedies like Gavin & Stacey, The History Boys, and One Man, Two Guvnors.

More importantly, though, the role gives him ample opportunity to scout for future guests for his upcoming Carpool Karaoke spinoff show. Ri-Ri in the passenger seat, anyone? Or Awkwafina rapping with Helena Bonham-Carter?

Make it happen, James. We’re counting on you.

Are you imagining a Carpool Karaoke crime caper crossover?
