You’re never too old for a bedtime story, especially when it’s read by Tom Hardy.

Wait. What? That was exactly the reaction on British Twitter yesterday (December 8) when it was announced that the Mad Max star would be the latest celebrity to settle down on New Year’s Eve and read one of CBeebies’ Bedtime Stories.

The popular program is broadcast every evening in the U.K. on children’s channel CBeebies, just as parents are getting their little ones ready for bed, and has featured stars such as Damian Lewis, Emilia Fox, Derek Jacobi, Maxine Peake, James McAvoy, and David Hasselhoff reading bedtime stories.

And then there was Anglo favorite, David Tennant:

Tom will be reading from You Must Bring a Hat by Simon Philip and Kate Hindley, a book about a boy invited to a party where the dress code requires guests to wear — you’ve guessed it — a hat.

And by the looks of one of the pictures released to coincide with the announcement, he’s brought along his dog Woodstock and worn PJs to make himself comfy:

It may be a far cry from films such as Black Hawk Down, Inception, and The Dark Knight Rises, but the father-of-two certainly looks mighty cosy.
