Now that Suicide Squad is in theaters, attention is slowly turning towards the next superhero blockbuster heading to cinemas: Marvel’s Doctor Strange.

And while the first trailer gave us a look at the film’s Inception-like surroundings when Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) first meets the Ancient One (Tilda Swinton), the latest, released yesterday (August 9), introduces a much darker side to the film.

In it we meet Kaecilius (Mads Mikkelsen), the villainous Master of the Mystic Arts who has broken off all ties from the Ancient One and started his own sect. And for anyone in any doubt as to what kind of sect it is, he makes it quite clear in the trailer, announcing, “I am death, and I am pain”:

It’s a shortened version of the second full-length trailer, which debuted a couple of weeks ago. That showed us more of Wong (Benedict Wong) and Karl Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor), Strange’s fellow Masters in the Mystic Arts, as well as giving us a glimpse of Rachel McAdams, who plays Christine Palmer, a surgeon from Strange’s earlier life when he was just plain ol’ Stephen.

So, c’mon Marvel. What is the secret to the universe? The one thing that allows them to harness energy and shape reality? Well, as Mordo shows Strange in the last few seconds, it all starts with one thing:

Sheesh. We could have told him that.

Look out for Doctor Strange in theaters from November 4.
