When Michael Jackson needed a spooky rap, he hit up Vincent Price, so when rapper Macklemore needed the same for his latest single, he turned to Idris Elba.

The track “Dance Off” appears on Macklemore’s most recent album, This Unruly Mess I’ve Made, and was released as its second single. It wasn’t until the official video appeared yesterday (May 17) on producer Ryan Lewis‘ YouTube account, however, that we were able to see as well as hear Idris’ contribution.

Here he is, providing the track’s melodramatic refrain, all the while doing his best scary face and wearing a rather fetching fur coat:

It’s not Idris’ first music video, of course. As well as his movie career getting more and more illustrious, and a successful sideline in music and DJing, he’s always had time for the visual medium.

In 2012 he directed and starred in Mumford & Sons‘ “Lover of the Light,” playing a blind man who goes outside without his walking stick:

And before that he appeared in videos by London rapper Giggs, Angie Stone (where he plays a delivery man who catches the soul diva’s eye), and Fat Joe (filmed in 2002, the same year as his breakthrough role in The Wire).

This one though has got to be the most striking.
