In case you missed it, Marvel’s Jessica Jones was confirmed for a second season on Netflix earlier this year.
Actress Krysten Ritter, who takes on the title role, made it official with this Instagram post:
Ritter elaborates on what’s to come in a new interview with Digital Spy, reports Collider.
She is signed on to reprise her role as Jessica Jones in the Netflix crossover show The Defenders, set to air in 2017. Jessica will be joined by Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Luke Cage (Mike Colter), and Iron Fist (Finn Jones), working together to fight crime in NYC.
And then Ritter moves directly into filming Jessica Jones.
The actress told Digital Spy, “They’ll (The Defenders and Jessica Jones) be back-to-back. I don’t know if they’ll overlap a little bit. It’s about to be a serious undertaking. I’m starting my physical training with lots of weight training and boxing.”
(The next passage hints at the ending for Jessica Jones season one, so please be warned, there is a slight SPOILER ahead.)
She doesn’t know exactly what to expect in the second season, but she has her own kind of wish-list, saying, “I’m excited to see what happens next for Jessica, and the end of season one left a lot of doors open and questions unanswered. Kilgrave (David Tennant) was her reason for getting up every morning. Saving people gave her purpose. I wonder how emotionally taxed she’s going to be now. That opens a lot of doors as to who will come out and play. We all live in the same universe, so there are endless possibilities.”
