She may have been pipped to the post by Alicia Vikander for the role of Lara Croft, but The Force Awakens star Daisy Ridley has something else up her sleeve, and it’s not a lightsaber.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Daisy is going to play the lead role in new movie Ophelia, a retelling of Shakespeare‘s play Hamlet from the point-of-view of his long-suffering secret girlfriend.

The screenplay, written by Emmy-nominated Semi Chellas of Mad Men fame, adapts a 2006 YA novel by Lisa Klein that imagines an alternative ending to the Hamlet story: Instead of Ophelia going mad and drowning herself (400-year-old spoiler!), this version involves “a secret wedding, characters who survive, and a semi-happy ending.”

“Semi-happy” is certainly one step up from Hamlet‘s real ending, which can only be equaled by an episode of Game of Thrones for body count. (Not a spoiler! You’ve had 400 years!)

Daisy’s casting certainly suggests an altogether more kickass Ophelia than the heartbroken, nunnery-dodging horticulturalist we’re used to from Shakespeare’s play. And with Naomi Watts down to play Gertrude, the queen of Denmark and Hamlet’s mom, the scene is set for an epic mother-in-law battle.

But forget “to be or not to be.” Who’s going to play Hamlet? That is the question. Start placing your bets now…
