They say biopics always snag the Oscar, and, after two near misses in a row with Birdman and Spotlight, Michael Keaton could be forgiven for thinking 2017 might be his year.

That’s because his next movie The Founder is about Ray Kroc (Keaton), the real-life Illinois salesman who met brothers Mac and Dick McDonald and, impressed by their fast-food burger business, turned it into a global phenomenon.

(Wait up. If Mac and Dick McDonald invented McDonald’s, then who on earth is Ronald?)

Producer Harvey Weinstein certainly thinks Keaton’s got a shot. As reported earlier this year by Deadline, he said with confidence typical of him that the movie would “send the incredible team of John Lee Hancock and Michael Keaton back to the Dolby Theatre.”

John Lee Hancock directed The Alamo and Saving Mr Banks, not to mention 2010’s The Blind Side, the movie that garnered Sandra Bullock her first Academy Award.

It all sounds promising. The trailer released yesterday (April 21) was our first chance to see what all the fuss was about:

So what do you think? Are you lovin’ it?

The Founder opens on August 6. No guesses as to what you’ll fancy eating after watching it.
