We’ve heard of some ingenious plans in our time, but “buying a shedload of tulips, faking your own death and running off together” is, we have to admit, a new one.

That’s exactly what married noblewoman Sophia (Alicia Vikander) and young portrait artist Jan van Loos (Dane DeHaan) decide to do in the new trailer for Tulip Fever, the upcoming movie adaptation of Deborah Moggach‘s historical novel set in 17th century Amsterdam.

Released yesterday (April 29), it gives us a glimpse into the latest lavish period drama to come from the pen of Shakespeare in Love screenwriter Tom Stoppard.

As is the case with all of his movies, it’s got an impressive cast to match: Not only does it star woman of the moment Alicia (The Danish Girl) and Dane, who drew rave reviews for his portrayal of James Dean in last year’s Life, the movie also reunites Spectre‘s Judi Dench and Christoph Waltz, as well as featuring big-browed enchantress Cara Delevingne (who made her debut in Stoppard’s 2012 movie Anna Karenina) and Zach Galifianakis (The Hangover, Birdman).

Here they all are in action:

Pretty intense, huh? And that’s not all for Alicia. It’s also been announced that she’s been chosen to play Lara Croft in the upcoming Tomb Raider reboot, which all points to the same fact: There’s no stopping this girl.

Except, of course, if anything should happen to the price of tulips. Uh-oh.

Tulip Fever opens in theaters July 17.
